How We Started
From Darkness to Valor
In the dead of night, I was consumed by a harrowing nightmare that had me screaming in terror. Amid the chaos, my brave daughter Alyssa rushed to wake me up, her tiny hands reaching out to pull me back to reality. In that frantic moment of panic, I lost control and flung her across the room, an act that shattered my soul as her tearful cry of “Why did you throw me?” echoed in the darkness. That devastating moment forced me to confront the unbearable truth: I had become the monster I swore I would never be, the one I vowed to protect her from.
Humbled and heartbroken, I knew I had to wage a war against the demons inside me. I immediately sought help through the VA, where I was introduced to Project Kenny, a turning point that taught me not only how to train my own service dog but also how to channel my pain into healing. With every command and every shared moment with my new canine companion, I discovered that hope and transformation were possible. The gentle, steadfast support of my service dog became a beacon, guiding me through the darkest hours and inspiring me to extend that healing to others.
Fueled by my own journey of redemption, I dedicated the next four years to training service dogs for veterans with PTSD free of charge, pouring my heart into each session as a tribute to those who fought their own battles in silence. As my hidden wounds began to mend, I took a leap of faith and founded Valor K9 Training in September 2023, a venture built on resilience, compassion, and the unbreakable bond between humans and dogs. Today, I invite you to join me on a journey of healing and empowerment, where every loyal companion is a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we have the strength to rise, transform, and create a future filled with trust and hope.
